Perfect Poppies

I used Poppy Trio by PB for my central image on this card as it is beautiful and very versatile. I think water colouring it gave it a lovely soft look which I struggle to do when using Promarkers. I inked the doily die cut edges and added foam pads to give it a bit of a lift from the background paper. I love the simplicity and the focus is on the lovely poppies. A sentiment and some thin ribbon finished it off and it turned out just as I wanted it.
Now over to the Penny Black and More challenge this month which is  Anything goes. There are some fantastic prizes up for grabs from sponsors Penny Black, Crafts U Love and Crafty Ribbons. There is also a chance to be a guest designer. Pop over to the blog for all the details and remember to read the simple rules carefully before entering the challenge. NO Digis allowed.

White Poppies

My goodness the months are rolling by so quickly. It seems to me we have just got past Christmas and we are fast approaching Summer.
This is my mid month inspiration card for the Penny Black and More " Birthday" challenge for the month of April. This is a nice easy challenge with lots of lovely prizes up for grabs. Pop over to the blog to see the inspiration cards from the lovely DT girls. Please check the rules carefully before you enter.
My card turned out completely different to what I was intending to make. I was very late in getting it made (again) so I quickly stamped my image called Poppy Trio. Even with minimal colouring I think it is beautiful. I added foam pads to the back, added ribbon and fixed it to my card. I die cut  two Butterflies, glued them together and added a few gems to the body before adding it to the card. More  gems were added to the centre of the Poppies and a sentiment was added to finish it off.

Sunflowers

I recently bought several new Penny Black floral stamps but due to being ill have not had a chance to play with them. These gorgeous Sunflowers were the first stamp I played with and it is so pretty. I did a water colour wash of blue, yellow and green letting a bit of water run into the colours. I stamped, water coloured and cut out my image. I added foam tabs to give a bit of dimension and a few mini crystals. I mounted it onto blue card and a piece of designer paper before adding it to my card. I wish I had either inked the edges of the designer paper or added another mat but it will make a nice birthday card or thank card for someone who enjoys flowers.

Many people ask me how I manage to cut out my images with such precision and these are the scissors I use. My first pair lasted me over 10 years and I only had to buy a new pair because my old ones got sucked into the hoover and it put a slit in the finger grip. My first pair cost me £10 and my newest pair cost £11 which I managed to track down on Amazon. It was easier posting the photo than trying to describe the details.

The Penny Black and More challenge this month is Birthdays. There are some fabulous prizes to be won from sponsors Penny Black, Crafty Ribbons, Be Creative and Stix 2. There is also a chance to be a guest designer on a future challenge. You do not have to be an advanced crafter to enter, all entries are welcome. Just remember work with main digi images is not accepted. The design team have made some fantastic cards/projects for your inspiration so pop over to get all the details about entering the challenge and see their beautiful work.

Playtime

It's mid month challenge time at Penny Black and More and that means it's time for an inspirational card. The challenge theme is "Feature a Creature" and the team have made some fantastic inspirational pieces of work to share with you. There is still plenty of time to enter the challenge and there are several prizes to be won. Pop over to the blog for the rules and details using the link above.

I must admit I kind of threw this card together as I have not been well for a while.  I basically grabbed what I could find on my desk and managed to get my card together by the skin of my teeth for this post.
I have used lots of snippets which I pulled from a box of left over bits I keep and hardly ever use. The die cut had a bent corner so I hid that under the flowers. The gro grain ribbon was tiny but I managed to cut into two pieces hiding the join under the image. I was feeling a bit low and not concentrating and the glue came through the first layer of lace. I fudged over that by adding another scrap of net on top. A skinny piece of cream lace had the life stretched out of it so it just about stretched the width of the card and I tiny scrap of a flower was added to a crumpled corner on my image.
I realized afterwards It would have probably been quicker to start a fresh card but by this time I was loosing the will to live and it just had to do.

Bright and Floral

A bright and cheerful inspiration card for the " Feature a Creature" March challenge at Penny Black and More.  This month as usual there are some fabulous prizes to be won so pop over using the link above to get all the information for the challenge.
I chose to use one of my favourite Penny Black cat stamps ( Merci Bouquet) and coloured the image and my die cut flowers with promarkers.
I bought a new paper pad recently and decided to use the lovely pink paper which has a tiny ammount of pale blue in the pattern. I managed to find a blue shade of marker that matched the blue in my card perfectly. I decided to keep it fairly simple and just added a few pearl gems to the image and black dazzlers to the centre of my flowers.

I have entered my card into the challenges listed below.

Daisy Day

I do love this Penny Black image. It is part of a clear stamp set called Flower Festival No 30-095. I use it for many different types of cards and it is so easy to colour. This image I coloured with small ammounts of water colour paint. I added a tiny bit of bluey grey on the petals for shadow, shades of green on the leaves and I toned down some yellow with a tiny bit of red for the centres. A touch light brown and a tiny ammount of black finished the flower off. I kept it nice and simple. I will use this as a get well or thank you card.
The Penny Black and More blog challenge theme this month is Anything goes with a stamp and a die/dies. There is still plenty of time for you to enter for the chance to win some fabulous prizes or a chance to be a guest designer. Use the link above to get the prize and rules details. PB Mimi

I used one of my favourite Mimi stamps by Penny Black called " Flowers for Mimi". She is so pretty and I love the sweet little birds. It took me one heck of a time to cut her and the intricate flowers out and I did accidentally snip off one of the birds. I mounted her on foam pads and managed to glue the bird back in place. I don't think anyone will notice.
The challenge at Penny Black and More this month is for a stamped image and any die cut to be used on your entry. As usual there are several great prizes up for grabs and the chance to be a guest designer. Pop over to the blog using the link above to get all the details.

Little Angel

A little bit late for this after Christmas but I was pleased how it turned out so had to show it to you. The silver and turquoise worked so well together. I did a silver mat behind my designer paper, image and sentiment . Die cut snowflakes were added at random around the card. I did minimal colouring on my image before adding it to my card. Ribbon, pearls, a double bow and lots of glitter finished it off to my liking.
Reminding you that the Penny Black and More girly challenge is still in play for the month of January. You still have plenty of time to enter. Pop over to the blog to check the rules and to find out the great prizes up for grabs.

A day for Daisies

Happy New year to all my friends, followers and Penny Black DT

Just before Christmas I recieved a lovely package from Brenda who runs the Penny Black and More blog like clockwork. I was thrilled to recieve a gorgeous PB stamp, ribbons and a PB designer pad of beautiful papers.
When I spotted this gorgeous turquoise lacy paper in the pad I new I would use it on my first card for the New Year. I had bought some new Nestabillity flower dies too and was itching to use those. I cut all the flowers in white and layered some of them. I added some Crealies leaf die cuts too and formed them into a kind of bouquet to add to the side of my paper.
I stamped and minimally coloured my image with Promarkers. I put it all together on my card and added some gorgeous sparkly gems to the flower centres.
Now to remind followers and friends of the PB blog that it is time for first challenge in 2016 (One for the girls) which runs for the whole month. As usual there are lots of crafty prizes up for grabs and you also have the chance of being a guest designer on the blog for a month. Pop over to the blog to check all the rules and details of this months challenge and all the beautiful projects made by the DT.

Christmas tweet

While talking to the girls at craft class one day I said "on this card I am doing a bit of mattering and layering" instead of "matting". They all fell about laughing and never cease to remind me of it.
I did do some matting on this card and I love the rich red card I found at Ally Pally a while ago. I used another of my favourite Penny Black stamps ( they all are) and she is perfect for making children's Christmas cards. As the card looked quite busy I just added a die cut bow (Creative expressions) with a lovely flocked brad and finished off by adding minimal colouring to my image and glitter.
A quick reminder that the Penny Black and More challenge is around the mid way mark but there is still plenty of time for you to enter. A nice easy challenge of Anything goes with a stamp. Pop over using the link above to check out the rules and list of prizes you could win. There is also plenty of inspiration from the DT.
